A secret gem south of the river, 48 Bistro is a cosy neighbourhood restaurant and fine wine shop. With a laid back and welcoming atmosphere, chef owner Nicola’s menu is inspired by the best quality ingredients available from Britain’s fantastic natural larder.
Our dishes are classic but never boring, served simply with deliciously punchy flavours. Whether you’re enjoying cheese and charcuterie, a selection of our small plates or a Sunday roast with all the trimmings, we aim to provide every diner with a memorable experience.
The Bistro is located on the Brixton Road, 5 minutes’ walk from the famous Oval cricket ground (and also Oval tube station!).
Nicola and her team are there to answer any questions on the menu or, of course, to recommend a good wine to complement your meal. We’re delighted so many customers have made us their ‘local’ and would love you to visit us to find out why.
48 Bistro’s philosophy is to source fresh, seasonal British produce from independent family owned dairies, farms and gardens, helping other small businesses to flourish.
Our extensive wine selection all comes from the top 15% of the best wines in the world and is sourced from independent family owned vineyards.
The dining experience at the restaurant reflects Nicola’s passion for cooking excellent food from the finest seasonal produce, as well as her many years as a chef and restauranteur. The menu changes monthly to reflect the seasons.
The produce at Bistro 48 is personally sourced from the surrounding counties and farms and arrives fresh daily thanks to a close team of award-winning suppliers. Nicola is proud to do all butchering and filleting in-house daily.
